Carter Lake is a small city located in Douglas County, Nebraska, United States. It is surrounded by the city of Omaha and lies to the north of the Omaha Eppley Airfield. The city sits on the east bank of Carter Lake, an oxbow lake of the Missouri River. Carter Lake has a population of around 3,800 people and covers an area of 2.02 square miles. Despite its small size, the city has a rich history dating back to the 1800s when it was first inhabited by Native American tribes. Today, Carter Lake is primarily a residential community with a few local businesses and attractions such as the Lake Shore Marina and the Historic General Dodge House. The city is also known for its scenic views and outdoor recreational opportunities, including fishing, boating, and hiking.
